2024 Open Championship odds, predictions: Scottie Scheffler projection by golf model that nailed last 3 majors

Name an important statistical category and there’s a good chance Scottie Scheffler leads the PGA Tour in it this season. The world’s No. 1 ranked golfer leads the PGA Tour in categories such as total strokes gained, putting average, scoring average and birdie average. Scheffler has won six of 15 events while making the cut in all 15 with 13 top-10 finishes entering the 2024 Open Championship. Scheffler took two weekends off after winning the Travelers on June 23 as he prepared for the Open Championship 2024, which tees off from Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland on Thursday.

Scheffler is the favorite at 4-1 odds to win the 2024 Open Championship. His 2024 Open championship odds are twice as low as the next-lowest competitor, Rory McIlroy (8-1). Bryson DeChambeau (9-1), Ludvig Aberg (9-1) and Collin Morikawa (10-1) have the next lowest odds to win the Open Championship 2024. Before locking in any 2024 Open Championship picks or Scottie Scheffler props, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 13 majors entering the weekend, including the 2024 Masters — its third Masters in a row — and this year’s PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now with the Open Championship 2024 field taking shape, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2024 Open Championship predictions

One surprise: Jon Rahm, a 22-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Rahm, a former world No. 1 ranked golfer, hasn’t performed well in his first two majors since the end of last year. He finished T-45 at the Masters before missing the cut at the PGA Championship and then withdrawing from the U.S. Open before it started due to a left foot injury.

But two tournaments don’t define a player with Rahm’s resume and the 11-time PGA Tour winner and 2023 Masters champion is expected to be fully healthy for the Open Championship. The 29-year-old finished T-2 at last year’s Open Championship for his second top-three showing over his last three British Opens, making him a strong value play for 2024 British Open bets.

The model has also examined where Scheffler (+400) finishes at the 2024 Open Championship. The World No. 1 has the shortest odds to win The Open since Tiger Woods in 2009 (+250) and for good reason. He’s the first golfer with six PGA Tour wins in a season before July since Arnold Palmer in 1962. Scheffler placed either first or second in eight of his last 10 tournaments this season, however, the two outliers just happen to be the last two majors.

After winning the 2024 Masters, Scheffler then placed eighth at the PGA Championship before finishing 41st at the U.S. Open. He bounced back from that U.S. Open result with a win the following week at the Travelers, which was his last start. His metrics indicate why he’s the best player in the world as he ranks first in strokes gained: total, scoring average (adjusted) and birdie average. But of his 15 career professional victories, all have come in North America as he’ll be seeking his first success on foreign soil at The Open 2024. The model just locked in its Scottie Scheffler Open Championship picks here.

How to make 2024 Open Championship picks

The model is also targeting three other golfers with odds of 20-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. McClure’s best bets also include a massive triple-digit underdog. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model’s picks here.
