Aria Grossenbach, 15, dropped 1.09-seconds from seed to win the B-final in a new personal best (55.77). Her entry time was set this March at the Westmont PSS stop and represented her first time sub-57. Now she’s broken another barrier at this meet. Grossenbach was first to the wall in 26.68, and managed to hold on for the win despite a charge from Mackenzie Hodges (55.92). Grossenbach’s time cracks the top-100 in the 15-16 age group, slotting in at 63rd.

JD Thumann, 16, dropped 0.65-seconds from seed to finish 18th overall (50.80). The Oklahoma-native’s entry time was set in March at 51.44; this swim represents his first time under 51-seconds. He also cracks the top-100 in his age group, now sitting at 47th.

Olivia Swalley and Brooke Bennett both had big drops to finish 1-2 in the C-final of the women’s 400 IM. Swalley, who represents the University of Iowa, dropped over four seconds from seed to clock 4:51.06. She was the first to the wall at the 200, the only one in the heat to touch sub-2:20 (2:19.65), and held on for the win. Bennett was slower going out (2:24.00), but used one of the fastest freestyle splits in the heat to finish second (4:52.88). That represents over a five second drop from her seed time.

AJ Robinson followed up his impressive prelims performance in the 400 IM at night, shaving another two-tenths off his time to finish 7th overall. The 17-year-old represents Aggie Swim Club. He clocked 4:25.99 in prelims and dropped that time to 4:25.79 in finals. Robinson had a great Futures meet last summer, where he was the runner-up for the high point award at West Fargo site. Robinson hasn’t publicly announced a college commitment,

Harvard-commit William Mulgrew dropped over six seconds in the 400 IM to finish 12th overall. Mulgrew was entered at 4:33.59 and ended up clocking 4:26.72 in the final. He was faster in the first 300 compared to this morning (1:00.93/1:07.04/1:20.51 vs. 1:01.45/1:06.73/1:21.63), but was slightly slower on the final leg (58.24 vs. 57.88). Still, it was enough to shave nearly another second from his prelims effort. He also dropped six seconds in the yards version of this event earlier this season.
