Sept. 20: 2B Ozzie Albies reinstated off IL; INF Cavan Biggio optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett
Albies, who has been out since late July with a fractured left wrist, was reinstated before Friday’s opener against the Marlins. Biggio was optioned to Gwinnett to make room for Albies.

Albies went 4-for-8 with a homer and a walk during his two-game rehab stint with Gwinnett. He will exclusively bat right-handed because he is still feeling discomfort while swinging from the left side.

“Yeah, I feel great,” Albies said pregame. “Emotionally, happy that I can be back with a team, do whatever in my power to help the team get ‘W’s’ — that’s the goal.”

10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST

3B Austin Riley (fractured right hand)
Expected return: October
Riley fractured his hand — specifically the base of his hamate bone — when he was hit with a 97 mph fastball against the Angels on Aug. 18. He will undergo a CT scan on Sept. 23 to determine how the healing process is going. He is still expected to miss six to eight weeks, meaning he won’t return before the postseason begins. (Last updated: Sept. 20)

RHP Reynaldo López (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: Last week of September
López played catch on flat ground on Sept. 20. The next step for him will be long toss. By deciding to place López on the IL on Sept. 11, the Braves effectively acknowledged he won’t pitch again until the season’s final series at the absolute earliest, as he’s ineligible to return until Sept. 26. The Braves have three regular-season games scheduled after that date, though it remains possible that López could contribute if the team reaches the postseason. (Last updated: Sept. 20)

LHP A.J. Minter (left hip inflammation)
Expected return: Out for season
Minter underwent season-ending surgery on Aug. 21 to repair a left hip impingement. He posted a 2.62 ERA in 39 appearances this year, but he surrendered a hit to or walked half of the 16 batters faced in his past three outings. (Last updated: Aug. 21)

RHP Huascar Ynoa (right shoulder discomfort)
Expected return:
TBD
Ynoa’s rehabilitation assignment has been halted because of right shoulder discomfort on Aug. 10. The hurler totaled 13 innings over the five appearances (four starts) he made during the rehab assignment that began on July 16. He tossed three scoreless innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on Aug. 8.

Ynoa has struggled to recover since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022, making three appearances for Gwinnett before he was initially shut down on April 14 with a right elbow stress reaction. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 16 to create a 40-man roster spot for Grant Holmes. (Last updated: Aug. 10)

LHP Ray Kerr (left elbow UCL)
Expected return: 2025
Kerr complained about the elbow after arriving to Triple-A Gwinnett, and manager Brian Snitker said he expects the 29-year-old will have to undergo Tommy John surgery. Kerr was optioned to Gwinnett on June 15, but he didn’t throw a pitch there. He was instead placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to June 16, and the team voided his option to Gwinnett.

Kerr appeared in 10 games, including two starts, for the Braves this season. He was 1-2 with a 5.64 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 5. (Last updated: July 5)

RHP Spencer Strider (right ulnar collateral ligament)
Expected return: 2025
After visiting Dr. Keith Meister on April 8, Strider underwent internal brace surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow on April 12 and will miss the rest of the 2024 season. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 15. (Last updated: June 15)

“My goal is to come back as a better player and a better person,” Acuña said on May 30. “Who knows, maybe I can win another MVP.” (Last updated: June 6)

LHP Angel Perdomo (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Perdomo was transferred to the 60-day injured list on May 4. He is recovering from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last fall and will miss the entire 2024 season. (Last updated: May 4)
