Dana White is making Power Slap 9 part of the UFC 308 fight week festivities.
Returning for the controversial face-palming league is former UFC strawweight Paige VanZant, who battles newcomer Chelsea Dodson on Thurs., Oct. 24, 2024 at Space42 Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Chelsea is married to former UFC flyweight title challenger, John Dodson.
VanZant, 30, was victorious in her Power Slap debut last June, registering a unanimous decision win over Christine Wolmarans (highlights here). The event was part of the UFC 303 fight week extravaganza in Las Vegas. As for her upcoming slap fight, the entire fight card streams live and free on the Rumble app.
It’s the digital version of the old Spike TV deal.
“When I first saw Power Slap, I thought holy sh*t, that’s insane,” VanZant told UFC. “When I see stuff that is crazy and exciting, it instantly just makes me want to do it. I’m definitely an adrenaline junkie and I have been since a young age. I did grow up dancing and I was a cheerleader, but I like to have the thrills in life. I would say my biggest accolade is my toughness. I love to compete. I love to be violent, and this is literally like the epitome of being a dog.”
