The Atlanta Falcons are set to host the rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Atlanta on Thursday Night Football.

The voice of Thursday Night Football is the legendary Al Michaels, and he appeared on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday ahead of the game to talk about this Falcons team.

“(The Atlanta Falcons) are one of the more mysterious teams in the league right now. They are 2-2. Every game has been close,” Michaels said.

As Michaels illustrated, Atlanta has played in four close games.

Each game has been decided by one possession or less, and both of the Falcons’ wins have come by a combined three points.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins is seemingly trying to find his groove right now as he has thrown four touchdowns and four interceptions through four weeks.

Thursday could be a massive opportunity to get the gears rolling for head coach Raheem Morris and Co.

If they are able to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team from their own division that appears to be somewhat of a juggernaut, it would be a huge step in the right direction.

But if they do indeed lose, they are going to be essentially three games back in the NFC South with a lot of work to do.

This is only the fifth week of the season, but this could very well be the most significant game in the NFL this weekend.

Time will tell to see if the Falcons are ready to take that next step and contend in the NFC.
