“Rocky” wants a rematch.

Raquel Pennington lost her Women’s Bantamweight championship at UFC 307 last weekend (Sat., Oct. 5, 2024) when Julianna Pena scored a very controversial split decision from inside Delta Center in Salt Lake City. “Rocky” had her five-fight win streak snapped.

The judging was “atrocious,” according to UFC CEO Dana White.

Pennington took to her social media three days after the fight to release a statement.

“I’m home and I’m healthy,” Pennington wrote on Instagram. “My heart hurts but my head is high! I do not feel I lost that fight but this is just another wild detour in this journey of mine. I will be back better than ever! I want the rematch stat! Regardless what an amazing fight week, surrounded by so much love, support and blessings. Memories that will last a lifetime. I’m full of gratitude and I want to send a shout out to all the people who stand behind me…I love each and every one of you. We will be back!!!”

The controversial loss must have stung a little extra because of the heated rivalry between the two competitors. It was a fight 11 years in the making as both women competed on The Ultimate Fighter season 18, with Pena winning the show.

Nevertheless, Pennington is only one or two fights away from another title shot with how shallow the division is. She won’t get an immediate rematch because Kayla Harrison is all but confirmed to get the next shot.
