The Denver Broncos don’t have that much talent in the passing game right now.

Courtland Sutton is obviously one of the most underrated wide receivers in the game, but with Jerry Jeudy gone, there’s a big talent drop-off.

That, combined with his strong outings and hard work in training camp in the preseason, opened the door for Tim Patrick to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.

At least, that’s how Broncos beat writer Zac Stevens feels.

Following another impressive performance by the veteran wideout, Stevens took to Twitter to claim that he was ‘a lock’ to be a part of Sean Payton’s team this season.

The past couple of years have been brutal for the veteran wide receiver.

He missed two seasons with back-to-back major injuries, so health will continue to be a concern for him for the remainder of his career.

Then again, with the way he’s performed, he should at least get another opportunity to prove that he belongs in the league.

On top of that, his big frame gives the team some much-needed size at wide receiver.

Thus far, Bo Nix has looked like the best quarterback in Denver, and it should be just a matter of time before head coach Sean Payton names him as the starter.

With that in mind, the team should look to put their prized rookie in a position to succeed, and that means surrounding him with the best players possible, so Patrick should definitely make the cut.
