After a rough rookie season and a weak start to this season, the Carolina Panthers decided to bench quarterback Bryce Young this week.

It may end up being the right move for him, as the Panthers won’t want his confidence and faith to be destroyed so early in his career because of his lack of success and production.

While Young wasn’t expecting this to happen, he has admitted that he hasn’t done enough to help his team win games, per Bleacher Report.

Young was the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft after he was a big star at the University of Alabama, and he was generally considered the best player in the 2023 draft class.

But he completed just 59.8 percent of his pass attempts and threw for just 2877 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie, and in two games this year, he has no touchdowns, three interceptions and a 55.4 percent completion rate.

The Panthers have been blown out in both of their games to start this season, and now 36-year-old veteran Andy Dalton will take over under center.

Perhaps standing and watching from the sideline with a season of NFL experience under his belt will serve Young well moving forward, as would a better set of skill players around him.
