Some big news has hit the sports media landscape, more specifically at the network of ESPN.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (via Front Office Sports), former NFL MVP and All-Pro quarterback Cam Newton will be joining ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith.

His first appearance on the show will be on Friday as the show continues its HBCU roadshow at Tennessee State’s football game.

This is big news considering how much of an influence Newton has had since his playing days.

At his best, the former Carolina Panthers star was one of the most electric offensive players of the last 15 years.

In his 11-year career, Newton rushed for 75 touchdowns, which is still an NFL record.

He was the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards in a season (2011).

The former Heisman winner and national champion at Auburn threw for over 3,000 yards and rushed for over 500 yards six times.

Newton is arguably the best Carolina Panthers player of all time and won’t soon be forgotten around the organization.

Simply put, he was one of the most dynamic quarterbacks to ever play the game.

The columnist against the athlete is always an intriguing dynamic in the world of sports media.

Time will certainly tell to see how Newton fits in right away on the show and at the network.
