Chiefs Are Signing Another Quarterback

It is safe to say that the Kansas City Chiefs do not need any quarterback help.

When you have Patrick Mahomes, you are going to be just fine as a team.

However, it doesn’t hurt to add some insurance just in case injuries take place or unforeseen circumstances come into effect.

That is why the Kansas City Chiefs decided to sign former Patriots starting quarterback Bailey Zappe.

According to insider Jordan Schultz, Zappe will go to the practice squad.

On the 53-man roster, which was just finalized earlier this week, the Chiefs have Mahomes and former Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz.

Adding a former starter in Zappe is a wise call by both GM Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid, even if he is just going to the practice squad.

A former fourth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2022, Zappe went 4-4 as the starter in the eight games that he started in over each of the last two seasons under Bill Belichick.

Also, Zappe is the NCAA’s single-season record-holder when it comes to passing yards (5,967) and passing touchdowns (62).

It is not every day that a Super Bowl-winning franchise can get a former starter to be their No. 3 quarterback just before the start of the season.

Kansas City is about to get even more insurance under center once Zappe enters the building.

Judging by the state of the quarterback room, the Chiefs could very well have the best quarterback room in the league, especially when you take into account that Wentz was an MVP candidate back in 2017.
