When new quarterbacks come into the NFL, fans and analysts will always be quick to draw comparisons to veterans and legends in order to make sense of the new talents we’re watching, and there are few QBs who are more of an honor to be compared to than Russell Wilson.
That’s exactly who one former player believes a heralded rookie reminds him of so far in training camp, but not in the good way one might think.
Former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer appeared on “The Carton Show” and shared his thoughts on Chicago Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams telling his teammates to clean up the locker room.
“He’s Russell Wilson 2.0,” Toomer said. “This is not gonna go over well.”

Toomer added that he thought Williams made a bad move for a rookie from the perspective of a veteran.
“I feel like rookies should earn their respect,” Toomer said. “… Just play the game, prove to me that you’re really here to be a star. … Don’t sit up here and talk about trash around the locker room.”
The topic has probably been blown out of proportion in the media, but it’s important for the Bears to let Williams be himself, and if he goes too far with his leadership style, surely a veteran in the locker room will pull him aside and let him know he needs to tone it down.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has gotten nothing but rave reviews on the field so far, but when being compared to Wilson, this is not the aspect of his game you want to be associated with.
