The most important part of preseason in the NFL is making it through the training camp healthy and ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season.

Unfortunately for the Kansas City Chiefs, they will have a minor hurdle to clear in Week 1 as they begin their quest to become the first team in history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Friday that new wide receiver Hollywood Brown won’t be ready for Week 1 and will not play against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night due to the injured shoulder he suffered in KC’s first preseason game.

The Chiefs signed Brown to a 1-year deal this offseason worth $7 million as Brown is looking to re-establish his value before hitting free agency again next year.

Kansas City’s wide receiver room last season was a major hindrance all season due to a series of drops and consistent unreliability, but Brown is being looked to immediately step in and establish some legitimacy alongside rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy as well.

Brown joins the Chiefs following two up-and-down years with the Arizona Cardinals where he had to stomach instability at quarterback due to Kyler Murray’s torn ACL, and he’ll look to rebound this year with Pat Mahomes following a career-low output of just 574 receiving yards last year.

Chiefs fans are excited about what the explosive wideout can bring to the offense, but they will have to wait just a bit longer as he works to recover from his shoulder injury.

Keep an eye out to see if Brown could be ready to go for Week 2.
