2024 WORLD AQUATICS SWIMMING WORLD CUP-SHANGHAI

Olympic hero Leon Marchand of France powered his way to a monster victory in the men’s 200m IM on night 2 of the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Shanghai.

22-year-old Marchand stopped the clock at a head-turning 1:50.30, breaking multiple records in the process.

British maestro Duncan Scott settled for silver in 1:51.08 while Swiss ace Noe Ponti rounded out the podium in 1:51.78.

For Marchand’s part, his mark of 1:50.30 established new World Cup, French and European records to once again cement the former Arizona State University NCAA champion as one of the best and most versatile swimmers on the planet.

  • The former World Cup record stood at the 1:50.37 American Shaine Casas put on the books in 2022.
  • The former French record rested at the 1:54.00 Jeremy Stravius established in 2012.
  • The former European record sat at the 1:50.85 Greek athlete Andreas Vazaios hit in 2019.
