Undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight celebrity pugilist John Gotti III on Sat., Aug. 24, 2024 in Mexico City. Their eight-round exhibition bout will serve as a rematch of their June 2023 headliner, which ended in disqualification (and an in-ring brawl).
It was “the most Googled thing in the world,” whatever that means.
Mayweather and Gotti III will join MusicVibe CEO Jose Luis Alva this afternoon for a special kickoff press conference, streaming LIVE at 2 p.m. ET from New York City in the embedded video above. Today’s presser is for approved media only and not open to the public.
In the Aug. 24 co-main event, former WBC Welterweight Champion “Vicious” Victor Ortiz returns for an eight-round exhibition bout against No. 5-ranked Argentinian assassin Rodrigo Damian Coria, a former WBO Latin Champion who’s never been knocked out.
Elsewhere on the card, WBC Super Bantamweight Silver Champion David Picasso defends his strap against former world title challenger, Azat Hovhanisyan, in a 12-round affair. Expect the full fight card and DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) lineup to be revealed in the coming days.
