Bristol Bears full-back Noah Heward will be out until the New Year after injuring his hamstring during a training session.

The 23-year-old, who played 15 times for the club last season, has since undergone a “successful surgery” according to a Bears statement.

Lock Steel Barker, who signed from Cornish Pirates this summer, will also be out for up to three months after breaking his foot while playing for Dings Crusaders last weekend.

Centre Kalaveti Ravouvou will also miss the start of the new Premiership season due to a shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out until November.

The Fijian picked up the injury during a pre-season win against Dragons on 6 September.

Bristol begin the new Premiership campaign on Friday night away to Newcastle Falcons.

They will however have back-row Steven Luatua back in their starting 15 after he recovered from a wrist injury suffered earlier in the summer, while prop Ellis Genge also returns to the team having missed England’s summer tour to New Zealand due to a calf injury.
