Stephen A. Smith Reveals His AFC Favorite After Davante Adams Trade

 

The New York Jets have had a busy couple of hours.

Fresh off their divisional loss to the Buffalo Bills, they decided to take Davante Adams’ salary and give Aaron Rodgers an elite weapon.

Nevertheless, as good as this will be for the Jets, Stephen A. Smith still doesn’t think they’re the team to beat in the AFC.

Talking on ESPN’s First Take, the controversial pundit claimed that the road to the Super Bowl still runs through Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Truth be told, he’s right on point.

Of course, Adams’ arrival should move the needle for a team like the Jets.

Then again, it’s not like their struggle had anything to do with a lack of talent in their wide receivers corps.

Granted, Adams is a significant upgrade over Allen Lazard and Mike Williams, but the team’s issues run a little deeper.

The Jets are sitting on a 2-4 record, but they have an easy schedule for most of the way.

They have more than enough time to turn things around, and they clearly believe that Jeff Ulbrtich gives them a better position to win than Robert Saleh.

They also looked better with Todd Downing taking play-calling duties off Nathaniel Hackett’s hands, but they still need to be better at the little details and executing down the stretch.

Hopefully, this trade will only make the tough AFC even more competitive.

But until proven otherwise, Mahomes and the Chiefs will continue to be the guys to beat in the National Football League.
